The pontoon is back and so are the Oppie Otters! There were no less than seventy guests for the start of season lunch. Ten new members have joined the Oppies to form the current Green Group; all were present along with their parents, many of whom have already signed-up as willing assistants to keep the whole operation ticking over smoothly.
Stuart Munro, Chairman of the Management Committee, introduced Judy Waples, the President of the Otters and Gemma Cahalane, the Optimist Co-ordinator. Rachel Threlfall, the Vice President, was also in attendance to lend her support.
Once the all important administrative formalities were taken care of, everyone was invited upstairs to the wonderful surroundings of the dining room to be presented with an excellent curry from James; the queues for seconds were more civilised but just as lengthy as the queues the first time around!
The gathering itself was very relaxed, informal and enjoyable, current and new members and their parents all had a thoroughly pleasant day. It was wonderful to see the club buzzing with youthful exuberance once more; here's wishing everyone safe and happy sailing for the 2006 Season.
