It was way back in the summer that the idea of an exhibition of Musto Skiffs was first suggested. Gradually the idea took shape; a good fleet of boats, sailed by the experts, the possibility of backing the winner of each race, the proceeds to go to charity.
Otter Christmas Party

Father Christmas uses all forms of transport to reach his destination. If visiting the Otters, you would expect him to arrive by boat, which he did. Fortunately the river was calm!

The weather couldn't have been more perfect for the last race of the 2006 sailing season for the Otters. 17 Cadets and one Laser entered this annual pursuit race.
IOCA/RYA East Zone Training

What a brilliant day's training. With forty Oppies on the water the RCYC was a hive of activity with a real buzz in the air! (Pun intended).
Lookers Volvo Youth Open
14th & 15th October 2006
The Otters took advantage of what was possibly the last good weather of the season and organised the Otter Youth Open on the 14th and 15th October.
Otters at the Cadet Nationals

6 Otters attended the 2006 Cadet National Championships in Weymouth from 19th to 25th August, armed with special Otter Nationals 'T' Shirts, and high expectations do well and achieve UKNCCA Squad & RYA Cadet National Junior Squad Places.
Otter Week Laser Report

With a Fleet consisting of three 4.7s and eight Radials, coaching from Kirsty Bonner of the RYA, amazing sailing conditions for the Class, the Laser boys dressed as monkeys and mice, and a cream cake fight, the Lasers had a memorable Otter Week!
Off to the Optimist Nationals
Saturday 5th August 2006
We left Burnham early as it's a long drive to Pwllheli Sailing Club where
the Nationals were being held for the second year running. We registered then
pitched our tent at Abererch Sands.
Sunday was the first sail after the briefing at midday- one race to determine
the group and coach I would be with for the week. That evening it was raining
so we had to eat our scampi and chips in the car!

January 2007 is likely to be a really exciting time for Corinthian Otter Chris Matthews who has been selected by the RYA to represent Team GBR at the Mirror Worlds in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
'Try Sailing Day' 2006
1st July 2006
An unusual convoy left the Corinthian on June 21st, making for Burnham County Primary School. Philippa Munro, Kay Tavinor and Chris Southcombe trailed an Oppie, a Cadet and an Otter Spotter to publicise the 'Try Sailing Day', arranged for July 1st.
Once they were set up in the playground, several Otters were on hand to explain to the interested children how it all works and what fun it is.
The parents could ask questions about safety!
Lookers Volvo Otter Int Cadet Open Meeting
24 & 25 June 2006
Twenty-six boats registered for the annual Cadet Open meeting held at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, Burnham-on-Crouch. After a half hour delay to the launch due to lack of wind, the fleet was towed to the River Roach.
Otter Easter Egg Open Meeting

The Otters were out in force to compete in the annual Otter Easter Egg Open Meeting when both their sailing and hunting skills were put to the test!
Cadets at the Parkstone Indicators

11 Cadet teams attended the Parkstone Indicator trials on the South Coast.This was the second selector event for the World Team 2006, and the first ranking event for selection for the National Squad 2006/7. Amy Seabright & Katie Barr had a superb event finishing 5th overall, placing them in strong contention for a team place with one further selector to sail.
Optimists at Braassemermeer

The first Open Optimist Meeting of the season saw three Otters travelling to Braassemermeer in Holland to join competitors from Europe and the USA for the saeason's first Open Event. Against competition from Britain, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland and the USA, Lucy de Boltz and Andrew Lis gained a place in the Gold Fleet and Rory Page managed the Silver Fleet. We look forward to hearing of their future progress.
Katrina at the 420 Championships

Congratulation to Katrina Hughes who achieved an outstanding first girl position (and third overall) in the 420 Class RYA Youth Championships. She and her helm Sophie Weguelin have been selected to represent the UK at the ISAF Youth Championships to be held at Weymouth in July.

Cadets at the Inland Championships
15th April 2006
Fourteen entered the Inland Championships at Rutland and, despite dubious weather forecasts, completed the scheduled races on the Saturday although the weather gained the upper hand on the Sunday! Oliver Herve & Charlie Barr ended 7th overall with Amy Seabright & Katie Barr in 8th. Silver Fleet was won by Charlie Matthews & William Arney with George Ayre & William Kennedy coming in 2nd. The coaches were all delighted to see great improvements.
Otter Oppies start the season

The pontoon is back and so are the Oppie Otters! There were no less than seventy guests for the start of season lunch.
