Established in 1930, the Corinthian Otters is the largest organisation for youth sailing in the Crouch Estuary and one of the biggest clubs on the East Coast. The Otters have been an RYA Championship Club for several years and can boast that many olympic and international sailors are ex-Otters and did much of their early sailing on the Crouch.
The Otters are unique in being the only youth sailing club in the UK whose members elect their flag officers annually.
The running of the club is overseen by the Otter Management Committee and the sailing is managed through the separate fleets associated with the dinghies sailed. All the trainers, managers, shore and water based helpers are volunteers and parents who readily and happily involve themselves in the success of the club.
Membership of the club is open to all youth sailors and beginners can join our pond group to learn the basics of sailing prior to progressing to the river itself.
The Otters are privileged to share the facilities of the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club whilst strongly defending their independent club status.
